The Man
R. David Mattiza is a very gifted and talented individual.  It is no wonder he has gained fame and recognition for his art. He is living his dream and achieving his life's work. Read how he got his start and his development as an artist in the About the Sculptor page. Despite his success he has remained unassuming and personable. He smiles often with a genuine twinkle in his eye. He has a love for people as well as a love for his treasured bronzes. It is his pleasure to see someone enjoy his work as much as he does. He invites everyone to visit him at Epiphany Studios. Most people will gaze at his art, respectfully, with their hands behind their back.  But David likes and encourages people to truly enjoy his work, not only with their eyes but their hands. When you find yourself before one of his sculptures, do not be afraid, touch it! You won't hurt it. It is cast in bronze!
Wintercount
Wintercount. This is one of David's most cherished pieces. It was his first life size bust.
The Sculpture
Learn just how a sculpted piece of clay is transformed into a lasting work of art in bronze.  Just exactly how this is accomplished is explained in step by step detail on the Lost Wax Casting page. Do they cast the entire piece as one whole thing?  How is wax involved? Just how hot is that bronze, anyway?
Exciting News

David will soon be revealing Four (4) Original Limited Edition Sculptures and One (1) Life Size Bronze Sculpture.  Visit the News and Events page to see where and when.
